Food

Good food fuels great adventures at Onondaga Camp.

Our kitchen staff bake fresh bread daily—and that’s just for starters!

Campers enjoy three hearty, kid-approved meals every day, plus a bedtime snack and fresh fruit available all day.

All meals are served family-style with your cabin or tent group. Menus follow Canada’s Food Guide and include multiple food bars to ensure everyone finds something they love.

Meals are full of choice and variety. Breakfast features camp favourites like pancakes, eggs, bacon, and French toast—plus yogurt, cereal, oatmeal and homemade granola. Sundays are extra special with fresh chocolate croissants!

At lunch and dinner, campers choose from rotating hot meals, a daily homemade soup, fresh bread, and a generous salad bar. Plain options are always available.

A few times a week, the Tuck Shop adds extra fun with treats like pop, chips, and chocolate.

This summer, we welcome back Michel and Lucia Ouellet-Poucel of We Cater Inc.—experienced camp chefs since 1998. Their homemade breads, granola, and desserts, combined with a cheerful staff, make every meal memorable!

We also prioritize emotional well-being, creating a warm, supportive environment where every child feels cared for, included, and confident to enjoy all that Onondaga Camp offers.

Medical Care: Our on-site infirmary is staffed by a doctor and five nurses, with Minden Hospital just five minutes away.

Daily Wellness: We emphasize healthy habits like handwashing and sun protection, alongside strict safety rules for all activities.

Emotional Support: Staff foster a caring, supportive environment where every camper can thrive, feel safe, and enjoy the best of camp life.

Check-Ins: We support each camper’s emotional well-being with daily check-ins that encourage open communication and build trust with staff. In addition, staff conduct regular one-on-one check-ins to ensure every camper feels heard and to proactively support a positive camp experience.

Staff

At Onondaga Camp, our staff are at the heart of everything we do. We know that campers often remember the kindness, support, and encouragement of their counselors above all else. That’s why our training emphasizes listening, supporting, and inspiring—so every camper feels confident to try new things and celebrated for their efforts.

We carefully select staff for their maturity, sound judgment, and dedication to being strong role models, with a focus on building positive, caring relationships with campers.

Our rigorous two-year Leadership-In-Training (LIT) program gives 16- and 17-year-old former campers both the practical skills and theoretical knowledge to grow into exceptional leaders and counselors. Ninety per cent of our counsellors grew up at Onondaga Camp and completed the LIT program. It’s our hope your child will too!

At Onondaga Camp, great staff aren’t just a part of camp—they make the magic happen.
